RULE FILE FOR FIDONET'S GLOBAL SPITFIRE BBS TECHNICAL SUPPORT ECHO
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
UPDATED VERSION 16 on May 31, 1995
Moderator: Michael S. Weaver Athens, Alabama @ FidoNet 1:3670/3
Co-Moderator: Ken Pearce Shalimar, Florida @ FidoNet 1:366/17
This is a Technical Support echo for Buffalo Creek's Spitfire BBS Software
and related utilities. Spitfire Utility Program announcements are welcome
and encouraged. Spitfire Utility authors wanting to use this echo for
support or beta testing such program(s) are encouraged to do so. Please note
that software written specifically for Spitfire is preferred. Other
utilities that are not specific for Spitfire BBS's shall require prior
approval by the Moderators. If message traffic becomes a problem to the
participants of this echo the Moderators may restrict access. Discussions
which relate to the Business Practices of Buffalo Creek Software other than
general statements which can be supported by written documentation
originating from Buffalo Creek Software are Off-Topic. General chit chat
should be moved to the Spitfire Chat echo (SPITFIRE_CHAT).
1. Play nice. (This covers a lot of ground, but you know what it means). If
you don't play nice, we'll have to separate you.
2. This Echo is available to all persons interested in Spitfire BBS
Software. Please set your security level high enough so that the casual
user does not fall into the echo by mistake. All FidoNet rules and
regulations apply.
3. A word to drive-by posters, (O.K. two words) GO AWAY! If you want to
discuss Spitfire versus any other BBS program in a positive way, have at
it. If your just here to make noise we would rather not hear it.
4. Stay on topic. Keep at least one foot on the subject of SPITFIRE BBS
software. If a topic is declared off-topic by the moderators, for
heaven's sake, STUFF A SOCK IN IT!
5. Keep foul language to yourself and don't quote somebody elses foul
language either.
6. All messages and subsequent replies shall be of a positive nature. We all
slip up from time to time, but as general practice let's try to keep
things as friendly as possible.
7. Don't be easily annoyed. Be helpful and Considerate. We were all new at
this at one time and had to follow the learning curve.
8. No ANSI Graphics are permitted in any message. Keep signatures down to
three lines or less.
9. Keep your quoting to the minimum necessary to establish the context of
your reply. Certainly, don't quote more than you originate.
10.TRY NOT TO TYPE WITH THE CAPS KEY DOWN. This is known as
shouting, and is bad typing practice. It is also hard to read.
11.No Encrypted mail flow is allowed.
12.No programs are to be transmitted as a message. Small portions of source
code for clarification purposes will be allowed.
13.Discussions that relate to Hacking of ANY Spitfire BBS Program,
INCLUDING Spitfire Utility Programs will result in IMMEDIATE feed cuts!
(No Fooling)
14.Please leave ALL moderating to the Moderators. If you have a complaint,
send me a netmail message anytime or phone me at (205) 232-5082 between
6pm and 9pm Central Standard Time, Seven days a week.
15.Gating the FidoNet Spitfire Echo shall be directed by the Moderator with
the assistance of Co-Moderator(s). All Networks Gating into this echo
must abide by this Echo's Rules and Current FidoNet Policy.
16.The position of a Co-Moderator will be handled by appointment by the
Moderator. The current Co-Moderator is Ken Pearce. All policy decisions
will be made by the Moderator of this Echo, Mike Weaver at
1:3670/3@fidonet.org.
17.DO NOT respond to any Moderation messages in the echo. If you do not
agree with this policy then DO NOT use the echo! NetMail the Moderator
if you wish to respond to a Moderation Message. Moderation Messages will
be clearly defined as those in which the Moderator use their title
directly beneath their name at the end of a message.
18.Messages determined to be excessively annoying by the Moderator will not
be tolerated and will result in a SINGLE (1) NetMail Message warning
from the Moderator prior to official action being taken as outlined in
the current FidoNet policies.
19.References to gerbils, guinea pigs, hamsters and other similar rodents
are prohibited.
20.That's it, except that if someone comes up with a new and improved way to
aggravate all and sundry we reserve the right to make a rule to fit the
occasion.
